I am a member of this organization which advocates for writers on issues of copyright protection, contracts, and free expression. This link takes you to a listing of member websites, and you can also visit the home page with interesting information on writers' rights and current issues of concern.

Poets and Writers
Monthly magazine with a comprehensive listing of writing contests and grants, plus writing news and profiles.

WebDelSol
Great site that provides links to many literary reviews and excerpts from their recent issues.

The Sun Magazine
A wonderful monthly publication featuring smart, well-written essays with heart (hard to find these days), fiction, poetry, and interviews with political activists and other inspiring people.

Reading Group Choices
Resource for book groups looking for suggested titles and discussion guides.

Southern New Hampshire University
I teach in the low-residency MFA program in writing at SNHU, a program for graduate students focused on fiction and non-fiction.

The William Joiner Center for the Study of War and Social Consequences
The Joiner Center at the University of Massachusetts Boston holds events focused on the legacy of the Vietnam War and other conflicts. The Center offers an annual conference on writing about war and other social issues and promotes exchanges with Vietnamese writers.

Veterans for Peace
A number of my Vietnam vet friends belong to this organization working to promote peace around the world.

New Hampshire State Council on the Arts
This very active arts council offers a wide variety of programs and resources. I am a member of the Artists Roster in the Arts in Education (artists in the schools) program.

New Hampshire Writers Project
This state-wide organization offers workshops, readings, the annual Writers Day, and a bi-monthly newsletter.

Portsmouth Poet Laureate Program
A wonderful group sponsoring the monthly Poetry Hoot and a variety of community arts projects in Portsmouth, NH.

Active.Com
Great site with training tips for cyclists and runners, and listings of century rides, triathlons, etc. Writers who spend hours seated at the desk need to exercise!
